The guarantee, in full
Pass the TRW Internship Exam and you are guaranteed an internship offer at TRW & Co. Here is exactly what that means, and the conditions that come with it.
The TRW Internship Exam is our route to a law internship in Bangladesh at TRW & Co. Every candidate who passes is guaranteed an internship offer at TRW. There is no shortlist after the exam and no contest for a fixed number of places: meet the pass rules and the conditions below, and the offer is yours.
An internship offer at our Dhaka head office, open for 12 months from your pass date. You tell us your preferred practice group and dates. We place you in the next cohort with capacity in that group or, if there is none, the nearest available alternative.
Conditions of the guarantee
- You pass the exam: 70% overall and at least 50% in every section
- You pass a document check: proof of enrolment or graduation, photo ID and a CV
- You take part in a short onboarding call, which is not a further selection interview
- You take up the offer within 12 months of your pass date
- You intern at the Dhaka head office (House 410, Road 29, Mohakhali DOHS)
From pass to placement
If your preferred group has no capacity on your dates, we offer the nearest available alternative.
The internship runs for 4 to 8 weeks, supervised by a TRW lawyer. What you will actually do is set out on the programme page at trw.co/careers/internship-programme.

Who can sit, and how the exam works
The exam is open to law students and recent law graduates, in Bangladesh or abroad. It is a single 60-minute sitting of 45 multiple-choice questions in four sections.
Who can sit
- Law students on an LLB or LLM at a Bangladeshi or overseas university
- Students on a law conversion course or a Bar training course
- Law graduates within two years of graduating
- Anyone who has not sat the exam in the last 90 days
A TRW internship does not count towards Bar Council pupillage. Pupillage is a separate step for law graduates preparing for enrolment as an advocate, served in the chamber of an advocate of at least ten years' practice. See trw.co/careers/how-to-become-a-lawyer-in-bangladesh.
| Section | Questions | What it tests |
|---|---|---|
| A. Legal foundations | 15 | Bangladesh law: the Constitution, civil and criminal procedure, evidence, the Penal Code, limitation and Bar Council rules. Drawn from the bank behind TRW's Bar Council Exam. |
| B. Legal reasoning | 12 | Applying a stated rule to facts, drawing inferences, spotting assumptions and reasoning by analogy. |
| C. Drafting and English | 10 | Precision, ambiguity, defined terms, grammar in legal writing and the right tone with clients. |
| D. Commercial, international and ethics awareness | 8 | How business and cross-border legal work operate, professional ethics and confidentiality. |
| Total | 45 | 60 minutes, one sitting |

- 05Begin onboarding
Pass, and your certificate code is emailed to you. The document check and onboarding call follow.

Scoring: pass, distinction or not yet
Two rules decide a pass: 70% overall and at least 50% in every one of the four sections. Score 85% or more and you pass with distinction.
How your result is decided
- Each section is scoredOn submission
Sections A, B, C and D are each marked separately.
- Section floorCheck 1
Every section must reach at least 50%. A strong overall score does not make up for a weak section.
- Overall markCheck 2
Your overall score must be 70% or more.
- DistinctionCheck 3
A pass with an overall score of 85% or more is a pass with distinction.
- 70% or more overall
- At least 50% in every section
- Guaranteed internship offer, open for 12 months
- 85% or more overall
- At least 50% in every section
- The same guaranteed offer, recorded as a pass with distinction
- Below 70% overall, or below 50% in any one section
- You can sit again after 90 days
- Each attempt draws a fresh paper
| Overall score | Lowest section score | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 88% | 62% | Pass with distinction |
| 74% | 55% | Pass |
| 86% | 45% | Not yet: one section is below 50% |
| 66% | 58% | Not yet: below 70% overall |

After you pass, and how we keep it fair
A pass starts a short, set sequence that ends with your first day in Dhaka. The same rules apply to every candidate, and we will make adjustments where you need them.
After you pass
- Certificate code emailedOn passing
We email a certificate code to the address you registered with. Keep it: it identifies your pass.
- Document checkNext
Send proof of enrolment or graduation, photo ID and your CV.
- Onboarding callAfter the document check
A short call to confirm your preferred practice group and dates and answer your questions. It is not a further selection interview.
- PlacementWithin 12 months of your pass date
We place you in the next cohort with capacity in your preferred group, or the nearest available alternative.
- StartYour cohort's start date
Your internship begins at the Dhaka head office, supervised by a TRW lawyer, for 4 to 8 weeks.
| Measure | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Honour code | You confirm the attempt is your own, without help or reference material. |
| A different paper for each candidate | Questions are drawn at random from a private bank, so sharing questions does not help anyone. |
| One question at a time | Each question is shown on its own. |
| Tab switching recorded | Leaving the exam tab is recorded with your attempt. |
| Server grading | Answers are graded on TRW's server, not in your browser. |
| Automatic submission | The paper submits itself when time runs out. |
| One attempt every 90 days | The same limit applies to everyone. |
If you need an adjustment to sit the exam on a fair footing, for example because of a disability, email info@trw.co before you start so that it can be arranged.
