Frequently asked questions

What is a cause list?

A cause list is the court's published list of the cases each bench will take up on a given day, in order, with serial (item) numbers. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh publishes cause lists for the Appellate Division and for each High Court Division bench on its website.

Where can I see today's High Court Division cause list?

Open the High Court Division bench list link on this page. It takes you to the official page on supremecourt.gov.bd, where each bench's list is published.

My case is not in the cause list. What does that mean?

It may not be fixed for that day, or it may need to be mentioned before the bench to be listed. Check the case search for the last order and next date, and speak to your advocate. Our guide at trw.co/supreme-court-practice-bangladesh explains mentioning and listing.

Is the online cause list official?

The lists are published by the Supreme Court on its own website, but what binds the parties is the court's order. Get a certified copy of any order you need to rely on.
